The heat these past two weeks has been almost unbearable in Middle Tennessee. The air is thick with humidity and the mere thought of being outside can make you break a sweat. The best way to keep your guests cool is to choose a date in one of the cooler months but if you simply must pick a date in May – August here are some tips to keep your guests cool.

Keep your guests cool with iced beverages, ice cream, and even popcicles. Fan programs are really a great idea for outdoor ceremonies. If you are having your ceremony outdoors, consider having your reception in an air conditioned venue so your guest can get some relief from the heat. Make sure there is plenty of shade around especially if you have little ones and older generations as guests. Another great idea is to provide a bucket of sunblock for your guests to help themselves to. This will keep your guests minds on the party at hand rather than their risk of sunburn. Letting your guests know that the ceremony or reception is outdoors really is key, so be sure to provide that information to them in plenty of time so that they can be prepared for the heat in advance.
