Expert Advice: 5 Tips to Flawless Makeup, Effortlessly

We are so excited to have Katie Russo Makeup join Wedding 101.  She is new to Nashville but not to the industry.  Enjoy these 5 helpful tips to be a beautiful bride … effortlessly.

I know that when you are planning your wedding there’s nothing less than a billion things to think about and even more to remember, not to mention most of us have to learn as we go. So here’s some advice I’d like to share with you to help when planning the beauty side of your wedding day that will hopefully bring some form of peace while making you feel as you should, Beautiful!!

1.) PICTURE THIS!

Bring pictures to show your makeup artist and hair stylist.  As you look through magazines, tabloids, online at celebrities, whatever, and find a look you like, then save it.  This is absolutely the easiest way to describe the look you’re wanting.  The pictures don’t have to be the exact look, maybe you like the eyes from one picture and lips from another.

2.) SCHEDULE A RUN-THRU!

Run-thrus are super helpful for you as well as your make-up artist and hair stylist. During the run-thru you can figure out your look and find out how well your application will hold-up throughout the day.  You will also have the opportunity to do any make-up/hair changes BEFORE your wedding day, so you can feel beautiful and confident on your wedding day!

3.) MAKE HAIR/MAKEUP APPOINTMENTS ON THE SAME DAY!

If possible, I suggest scheduling your hair run-thru on the same day as your make-up run-thru.  Sometimes things can look a bit “unbalanced” if one is done without the other.  This way you get the “whole picture”.

4.) TOUCH UP!

I like to recommend to my brides that they keep a little makeup bag close by  for “fluffing up” throughout the day or evening.  Make sure to have translucent powder, lip color, bronzer, and eyeliner in your bag, and don’t forget the brushes needed to apply everything.  Deodorant, mints, and maybe a few bobbie pins, and you’ll be pretty well-prepared!  Hand it off to one of your bridesmaids, and you’re ready to boogie!

5.) TAKE A MOMENT!

HAVE FUN!  This is your day! You’ve done all the planning a girl can do.  Now it’s time to relax, take it all in, and celebrate!!!
