1. What made you get started in the wedding industry?
My passion for food is the right answer for this question. I was introduced to my grandmother’s kitchens by the age of three. I learned to cook by the age of four, part out the necessity to help my mother but the real reason is that I wanted to learn. I am self-taught even thought a have now professional education as a chef. My passion for food had taken me to explore many countries and to learn their cuisine. Now that I am out of the Army I have the opportunity to do what I love and weddings is my happy place. I love to be able to take some of the weight out of the groom’s and bride’s shoulders.
2. What do you like most about working weddings?
I love to see my clients’ smiles when they receive great delicious food. I am a big believer that service and quality can make or destroy the feeling of a wedding. My promise is to make this day memorable and unforgettable because of absolutely great service. I love to have a close relationship with my clients.
3. What’s the craziest thing that has happened to you while working a wedding?
I was doing catering and the cakes, and the cakes suffered an accident. Let’s just say they needed to be re-iced and re-decorated. Thankfully I think ahead and always bring my tool box of extra items…icing, decoration, you name it. It had to be done in less than an hour. I was successful, and the bride was happy.
4. What’s the best advice you can give to a bride?
Always ask for a tasting. Do not go blindly into a contract. A caterer who is proud of her food will always provide samples. You may be charged for the tasting, but it will be worth it.
5. What’s your favorite thing to do when you’re not busy with work?
I still cook. I create new dishes. I also love to travel, visit new countries, and explore their cuisine. I read and do embroidery to relax. Currently, I am renovating my house which is a lot of fun too!
6. What’s your favorite food, animal, and color? Why?!
I love fresh Italian food. I spent a lot of time in Italy and learned many things from their cuisine. I make my own pasta, gnocchi, sauces and meatballs. I do it the traditional way.
My favorite animals are cats and dogs. I have a cat whose name is Mich; we call it the cat-dog because he acts like a dog sometimes. I love Labradors, but I am still in the search for one.
My favorite color is turquoise. For me, it is energizing but soothing at the same time.
