Photojournalistic, Traditional, or Illustrative…

… or posed, formal, relaxed, creative, artistic, candid, etc.  All of these are words used by photographers to describe their work, as well as by brides trying to express what they want to see in their wedding day pictures.  Well, after talking with a few brides, I decided to break it down and make it easy for you to understand at least the top three.

Photojournalistic photography tells a story or narrates the day… capturing moments unobtrusively… not intentionally creating photos.

Traditional photography is portrait-oriented…based on a photo shot list… contrived or posed.

Illustrative photography focuses on design elements by manipulating setting or background.

The nice thing is that you don’t have to pick one over the other.  Trust your eye for the right photographer and your instinct when you meet him/her.  Again, you want to “click” with your photographer.
