I’m going to piggy back on yesterday’s Watercolor post a little bit. This past spring and fall’s Vera Wang runway was full of color. Traditional white will be in style for years to come but color is making it’s way back into the gown section at the bridal shop.

For those of you who are a little shy about taking the non-white wedding dress plunge, remember this, wedding gowns were not always white. The marriage of Queen Victoria to her cousin Albert of Saxe- Coburg in 1840 has had more influence on weddings than any other. Queen Victoria put the wheels in motion by marrying in white. Though brides continued to wed in gowns of different colors, white was now set as the color of choice for weddings and has continued ever since.
I’m not sure I’d step out of the ‘white box’ for my big day but I’d love to glide around in one of these colors at a vow renewal or anniversary celebration. I also think they’d make a perfect dress for a gal who met her real prince charming after being fooled by a toad or two.
