Girls in White Dresses with Blue Satin Sashes

One of the trends in wedding dresses that I love is the sash OR SPLASH of color added to the traditional white wedding gown.  It might not seem traditional, but after lots of research on the history of the wedding dress, I found out that the white wedding dress was unheard of until Queen Victoria married Prince Albert in 1840.  Before then, brides chose colors to represent the joy of the occassion.  Yet, it was a bold fashion statement  that became the tradition.  I still remember falling in love with a champagne pink dress, but respect for tradition had me choose the white (albeit gorgeous) dress instead.  I painted my nails pink!:)

The sash is a great compromise or addition to your wedding dress.  When we were at the AtlantaMart this past year, Amy and I found some amazing ribbon seen here that would add that sweet splash of color to any dress. We carry several of their gorgeous ribbons at Wedding 101 but can order from AMPELCO Ribbon Co. any of their ribbon just in time for your wedding dress, your bridesmaids’ dresses, or even for the flower girl’s gown.  As well, you might want to add another elegant flair by attaching a brooche to the knot of your sash.

The sash does not have to be your something blue but maybe that perfect shade of your favorite color.
